A sad loss to Esentepe

Although we did not use it very often, it is with regret that I must announce that the Aydin Patisserie just off the village square has closed its doors, personally I hope it can reincarnate in a similar fashion :( as it was enjoyed by many expats, and the cakes were excellent

A sad posting that Greg. Used the said establishment several times on our last visit and it was really good.

I for one will miss it. Lets hope that they find a way back.

Hi John,
I dont think we will see Aydin back, however maybe someone else will give it a go
The trouble as I see it is that the local people open shops in the village to cater for the large influx of foreigners who have disposable income and they hope they will frequent them, unfortunately most of the influx (now a trickle) prefer to go into Girne and do their shopping, using the local shops only for the odds and ends, and the things like bottled gas etc
Many of the people who bought here are no longer coming so often, they are desperate to sell or to let their places, unfortunately though there are too many places to let or for sale and too few takers
Only my humble opinion
